The best book I've read on how to get referrals from existing customers. I run a digital marketing agency and after reading this I bought a copy for each of my account managers and we've seen them bringing a lot more value to clients and to my agency as a result.

We have a book club for aviation-industry sales and marketing professionals. Our folks are aircraft brokers, marketing pros for flight schools, charter sales, jet cards, etc. Many of our folks already get 50% or more of their business from referrals, so weren’t expecting to see much that was new.But everyone found at least one “gold nugget” - a key insight or technique to try. Highly recommended!

Like Jantsch's previous book Duct Tape Marketing, this one is filled with practical insights and actionable advice that any entrepreneur or small business owner can quickly put to work in their business. The insights and resources shared for building your own referral engine by leveraging content and the world of social media are as powerful as they are useful. From the starting point of encouraging you to view referrals as a strategy for your business and not just a tactic, through the action-focused advice on how to actually garner and use referrals, Jantsch shows you how to stop wasting money on things that don't work to attract new business and how to engage your customers in helping you to bring in a steady flow of those your business was meant to serve.It's worth noting that the reason I am writing this review is because the process Jantsch used for marketing the book led me to experience the power of his core ideas firsthand. He suggests developing content with value, disseminating it to others, then asking them to share their insights after they have consumed it. I found out the book was coming out from Drew McClelland's blog, clicked a link that allowed me to get a copy before it was released to the public, read it, then was gently reminded by Jantsch (via e-mail) that I could post my review here, complete with a link to make it easy.The point? He walked his talk and proved to me that it worked...and now I am endorsing the book with no reservations (and with no money coming my way) because he did what he said he would do, and because this book will help you build your business...he proved that with the way he used his techniques to turn me into a raving fan, or perhaps a piston in his referral engine!

I bought this to read for work. Was a little dry and redundant. But the over all point of the book is fantastic. I think any person looking to grow a business should read it.

There's nothing totally unique about any one idea in "The Referral Engine." There's nothing unique about a 5lb. bag of sugar either. Of course that bag of sugar could be in the hands of a skilled pastry chef - or it could be in mine. I can tell you there's a pretty big difference. John Jantsch is the Head Chef of Marketing. He has an almost magical way of accumulating massive quantities of more basic ideas, sifting them, combining them in perfect proportions, and then turning them into recipes for delicious success. The end result almost defies identification of those original ingredients. A great chef understands every tool, and exactly what his oven will do at each temperature. John Jantsch understands small business owners to the extent he crawls right inside our heads to tweak attitudes - and he does it by slowly building a case logically, step by step, until you can't help but agree with what has just become so obvious.In "Referral Engine" one of the first things he tackles is a business owner's reluctance to ask for referrals. I know that until I was exposed to Jantsch's material, I hated it! I expected my clients to love me and spread the love without me asking - and in fact, often times that did happen. No matter how good you think you are now, if you're like me, you have no idea how great your untapped potential in this area is.I think the thing I like most about Referral Engine, and Jantsch's work in general, is that there is no dishonesty, no gimmicks, no use of trickery. I've always believed the path to success lies in creating a great product or service for which one charges a fair price. It's an approach built on creating a great product or service to begin with. Jantsch shares that approach. For example, Chapter 5 is titled "Your Authentic Strategy." The underlying premise of this work is the need to create a company worth referring. The second key idea is that you get ahead by helping others first. We're encouraged to partner with other businesses, and to always be looking for ways to help others, to connect, to refer. There are no one-way streets in Jantsch world. You clearly give as well as get. This one book may not have all the information you'll need to improve all of the other parts of your business, but it will help you identify parts that aren't working because they will keep you from being talk, or referral, worthy. This book, assuming one has an Amazon Prime membership - and every small business owner should - is $11.69 today, its release date. I'd be surprised if your return on investment wasn't at least 1,000 times that. On the other hand, you could order 20 to 30 other books to cover the various aspects covered here - and I would hope for that, you'd have greater results, but somehow I seriously doubt it.I love this book, and I think you will too.

This is an awesome book. It gives specific examples for implementing referral ideas, not just generic concepts. I loved how the info was presented. I listened to the audio version of this book and the narration was pleasant. A definite must have book for small business owners, marketers, and sales people.

I loved this book. After too many fairy tales with unicorns, rainbows and dreams of what the internet can do for your business, THE REFERRAL ENGINE gets real. Real examples, real tips, real lessons you can put into place into your business. Applicable to one man shows or large organizations, the strategy behind things like Inbound Marketing can be learned, implemented and improved. Highly recommended. I listened to it originally on an audio book, then bought the paperback so I could read it and take notes.

I was struck by Xanet's honesty and courage describing her journey to her sexual awakening in her 50's (!!!) Yep, you read that right - Xanet did not discover orgasms and allow her sexual being to bloom until she was 50. You hear about women not being satisfied in their relationships or marriages but it seems an untold social norm that women over a certain age are written off as damaged goods and their partners are encouraged to move onto greener and younger pastures. Well, Xanet puts that belief on its head and proves just how far from the truth it really is. She is brave, beautiful and unapologetic in describing her sexless marriage and the process of letting go of a seemingly "perfect" life and awakening to her true self. The stories of people who Xanet has worked with add further depth to her findings and insights. This book is not just a wonderful manual and road-map to the reader's own sexual awakening journey, but it is also about following one's true path, one's soul calling. And for that, there is hardly a more shining example of how to live an orgasmic life than Xanet :)

I felt like this book was more for a sex therapist, then for a individual. She often assumes the readers will know all her terms/and how to do them (e.g. tantric massage).

As a man who has tried to understand women since the day I was born, I can say that Living an Orgasmic Life fills in a lot of gaps. The author's first hand account and easy-to-read honesty bring clarity to many things that were smothered during our upbringing. Ms. Pailet maps out a path with concrete steps to take toward self discovery and greater pleasure. This book offers men an inside track into how to understand and please a woman. (And it's probably good for women too!)

Xanet has done a great service presenting a compelling subject. Well written and easy to read, she presents well researched and very human stories and insight. Bringing her vulnerability and openness makes it more compelling and personal. I heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in human relations and intimacy.

This book packs a big message and one so many women need. The author knows her topic and approaches it throughfully. This is a breakthrough book on womena and sexuality, truly important.

I bought this book as I am learning more about my sexuality and all the ways I have felt dissatisfied in this area of my life. I have been healing old wounds and wanting to learn more about tantra. This is a book that has exercises, real life stories and healing that take place. I read books to escape, but I also read books to feel. It's been a long time since a story has truly made me feel so much. It started with The Villain and grew even more intense in The Dove. I don't think I have ever both loved and hated a character so much as Adam. I thought he was brutal in The Villain, but he outdoes himself in this book. He almost gets to the point of no return, but in usual Adam form, he catches you off guard. Daphne surprised me just as much as Adam. What she is able to endure is amazing and her growth as a character is my favorite. I can't even begin to list the range of emotions I felt while reading this and not just from our hero and heroine. Niall and Olivia tore at my heart strings, and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for them. And then there's Robert, he's so sweet and caring, and I love what he brought to the story. All of these characters and facets come together to create such an emotionally beautiful read. It really shows you what lengths people will go through for what they believe in and love. It's heartbreaking, gut wrenching and most of all satisfying. Victoria Vale creates timeless characters and settings that will forever imprint themselves on your heart. This is certainly a duo of books that I will treasure and come back to time and time again.

This becomes a must read after you've read the first book in this duology. It doesn't disappoint especially with regard to the two principal characters, Adam and Daphne. My criticisms of the duology are that this book ends rather abruptly and without dealing with the fate of three characters who do play important roles in both books: Niall, Adam's manservant, Olivia, Adam's very much harmed cousin, and her child, Serena. I could certainly be wrong, but my guess is that Victoria Vale submitted her manuscript and was asked to write a bit more indicating what happened to Adam and Daphne and she did so, writing about what happened a year after she and Adam returned to his castle after their marriage. But Niall, Olivia, and Serena also live there and their fate is of interest (at least to me). One other criticism is that Daphne played the harp in both books, but she was injured toward the end of the second book. It's not clear whether she was able to continue to play after her injury. She and Adam enjoyed playing instruments together, she on the harp and he on the piano.

Given the intrigue presented at the end of the first book in this duet, The Villain, I was compelled to read on into this the second book, The Dove. I was even more delighted with this book than the first. To be sure…I was sufficiently delighted, entertained and found the Lord Adam Callahan, Earl of Hartmoor delectably swoon worthy in the first book. I also enjoyed the fiery, loving and passionate…but principled where it counts…heroine, Lady Daphne Fairchild.In this book we find that Lady Daphne has been paid handsomely for her month-long virginal, sexual surrender to Lord Hartmoor as they agreed. She had come to feel that she belonged with Adam in the light of the revelations regarding his motives in pursuing the downfall of the male members of the Fairchild family, her compatibility with him in so many interests and her increasing desire for all the physical delights she finds in his arms. Dare I say she was also falling in love with him? She was summarily dismissed from Hartmoor and brought back to her father and brother in London. Feeling betrayed by both her father and brother in addition to being spurned by Adam, she set about making a home for herself and hoped to gradually find a place in London society.It is a familiar trope that Adam, despite his resolve, could not get the lovely Daphne out of his mind…his dreams…his desires…his system. So, it’s off to London for him. He tries to tell himself he needs to go to London because he is not finished with his revenge on Daphne’s brother. A fervid dance of desire, denial, unrealized emotion and daring dreams begins as Adam pursues his singular need to own what he has claimed as “his” and to hold her close…Lady Daphne.Frustrating Adam in his pursuit of her is Daphne’s realization that she needs more from Adam than his claim of ownership, although she enjoys all that this entails…she needs more... his fidelity and his love. Daphne also fears that her Fairchild linage will always be a barrier to true and lasting love with Adam. As she comes to truly care for him and his family, Daphne worries about Adam’s determined pursuit of revenge on her brother. Her worries are not for the fate of her brother but for the emotional and spiritual toll it is taking on Adam. Moreover, she feels like a pawn in Adam’s plans in taking vengeance out on her brother.Ultimately, Daphne is willing to forgo all her desire for love in a traditional commitment and be whatever Adam wants if he would only choose her instead of pursuing vengeance. An explosive situation forces Adam to make his choice. Yet, his choice doesn’t exactly bring about the hoped for and longed for result. Even so…is it evident that our swoon-worthy hero finds himself overwhelmingly out-of-his-element besotted by our heroine?The writing itself is suitably stylistic for the genre. The story is told in third-person alternating POV’s with well-written dialogue and character reflections at appropriate times contributing to a near seamless flow in the narrative. I would be seriously neglectful if I didn’t mention what a divine dirty-talker our hero Adam is… adding so much ardency to the spellbinding erotic love scenes.Oh…it is just the right kind of “stuff” for which romance junkies live. Once again, this particular Regency era romance is peppered with the darker power-exchange elements that some (perhaps more than some? 😎) readers find decidedly exciting.As for who would enjoy this duet? I’ll say it once again… you know who you are!!!Quotes:“Even after the mess he’d made of her life, after the things her father and brother had done, a part of her remained untouched and pure. Did she truly believe there was any good left in him—that he even had a soul worth redeeming?”“You stupid little thing. You do not want this … my love isn’t the kind that nurtures or soothes. It’s the kind that hurts. The kind that destroys things. It’s the kind that consumes you until there’s nothing left.”

I adored the first book. I loved how Adam straddled the line between good and evil. His light shows through his love and loyalty toward Olivia and Serena. His darkness shows through his exploitation of Daphne. She becomes a drug to him, however. He is aware of the fact that Daphne is not at fault for her brother’s actions, but can’t bring himself to stop tormenting her. And torment her he does, even though he cares for her and becomes protective of her.The ending disappointed me tremendously. SPOILER******:After everything that Adam put Daphne through, she took a bullet for him and he left her when she disclosed her love for him. WHAT!? I wanted to throw my Kindle! I wanted to see him grovel, atone for all of his abuses toward her. Instead he leaves her under the guise of setting her free because he supposedly believes that’s what is best for her. He leaves her wounded and weeping, broken completely. He sends another man to propose to her! I couldn’t forgive Adam after this. Daphne then CHASES Adam to win him back! I loved everything about the books except this. Adam should’ve been the one to atone and make it right, not Daphne. I still loved the books, but I laid awake and rewrote the ending in my head before I fell asleep! Adam wasn’t redeemable to me otherwise!
