Thomas is the youngest son of a great man. He is the last of his male siblings to settle down, but there is reason for it. Thomas has known his own heartbreak. His father, whom he greatly loves and respects, has betrothed him to a young woman whose father will leave everything to Thomas, making him a very wealthy and powerful man someday. But this young woman is a nightmare. As a result of an unexpected visit, Thomas meets the sister of his friend, a widow who has dedicated her life to the church, as she is passing through the area. Lady Maitland is on her way to an orphanage as its new administrator.Thomas is impressed, and that’s putting it mildly. Maitland, or “Mae”, returns Thomas’ feelings, but knows it can go no where as he is betrothed. Their longing for each other must be put aside. But, the plot thickens with the increasingly bizarre behavior of Thomas’ fiancé, the enemies of Thomas’ family intent upon doing him harm, and the recent dark history of the orphanage Mae is sent to by the church. The intrigue and twists are enthralling! The characters are colorful, and there are moments of humor that had me chuckling aloud.I can’t recommend this enough, for readers of historical romance who enjoy knights and their ladies, this is the best.

Thomas de Wolfe the youngest and unruliest of the de Wolfe family really wants to make a name for himself but not in the expense of sacrificing his future happiness. His father sight unseen has betrothed him to the Earl of Northumbria’s daughter, Adelaide. Thomas is not having it and tries to run away is caught and resigned to marry her. What Thomas finds out after meeting Adelaide, she is a mad crazy woman who has an affinity to cutting herself. Thomas does everything he can to be nice to the lady but in actuality can’t stand her. When Thomas’s second in command brings his sister Maitland “Mae” Bowlin he is easily charmed and enchanted by her. Unfortunately since Mae is a widow she is bound to a life of charity and has been sent to Edenside, a foundling home. As Mae and Thomas come to know each other the attraction grows but everything stands in their way Thomas’s betrothed, family and even countries. Will Thomas and Maitland ever find the happily ever after meant for them or will everything tear them apart? What an amazingly written deeply involved novel of a wonderful family that just tugs at the heartstrings! Finally after long last we meet up again with the de Wolfe family which Ms. Le Veque has written extensively about the family but we never lose the fascination and love that just enthralls us about them. Of course Ms. Le Veque also just knows how to tell a truly fantastic story and her themes never get old. Sure this book is part of a series but this book can also easily stand alone. Plus the book is full of non-stop action and a pretty bad dilemma since the main male protagonist is already engaged and is in love with someone else. Love always finds a way to triumph over all. Thomas de Wolfe, the youngest de Wolfe, has a lot to live up too compared to his ever famous father and his brothers. Still Thomas manages to hold his own and there is a deep love that he has never gotten over. Thomas manages to find love when he least expects it and makes him that much more likable. He does have his moments though of not being the magnificent chivalrous hero especially in dealing with Adelaide but then again he does his best not to lose his cool even though it happens, then again who can blame him? Adelaide needed to be locked up in a mental institution despite her way of trying to get Thomas to love her. Mae on the other hand is just a great witty intelligent heroine that manages to save herself. Who doesn’t love that? There has to be more stories of this great family because they will definitely be great reads no matter what they are!

Being the son of The Wolfe and especially living up to several older brothers can put lots of obstacles in a sons life to have to prove to them that he strong, can handle anything that life throws at him will put a strain on their relationship with them let alone having to marry someone that you don't know let alone even know. This is the book about Thomas the youngest son of William, the Wolfe , he is hurting from the past of a lost love, through meeting too late and then her death, leaves the country with a family friend and they both earn names to the strength, the killing and the living of their lives, Thomas earns the name of "StormWolfe" being that every time he is in serious fighting he unleashes a storm that is worst then can be expected. Thomas finally makes it back home and goes through finding his place and ends up taking over the castle Wark, for his father. Then comes the time that William calls all his sons home for a meeting when it is to get Thomas to be engaged. A skirmish that leaves many feelings of unease and unhappiness. In comes the sister to Desmond, Maitland, widow of Sir Bowlin, on her way to take over a foundling home and comes to stay overnight at Wark Castle to visit with Desmond. While there she meets Thomas and sparks fly between them and each in their way can't fathom what is really happening. Then there is the theatrics of Thomas's fiance, Adelaide, a evil woman that would do anything to make Thomas love her but doing everything to make him hate her instead.Kathryn. has done it again by taking over the attention of your mind and not letting go once into the book there are sparks flying, blood on walls. death, fighting with revers, revenge, and it goes from there having you laughing one minute, crying the next and then wanting to knock sense into an evil woman. You can't simply put down any of Kathryn's books and Stormwolfe is another step further into the medieval time of a much love characters family and friends. Which you can get hooked into and not want to stop til you have read each and every book by her. Please read Stormwolfe for you will fall in love with Tommy and Mae and with the whole Wolfe family.

Cherese Akhavein's review Jan 04, 2019 · editit was amazingThe Amish Midwife’s Secret by Rachel GoodWhat do you do when your heart is leading you one place and your brain is leading you in another? Well this is an excellent book of how torn one young man Kyle Miller is when his world comes colliding head first into what he once knew and what he once tried to forget, Also you will meet young Leah Stoltzfuz who’s life’s work of being a Midwife while also working in her families Natural herbs and products store beings her to know many ways of treating the Amish Community with natural products. When the local Dr, offers Kyle the opportunity to take over his practice so he can retire, Kyle struggles with old hurts and past mistakes, can he let go and trust God when he does not even believe in God, and how can he work with a Midwife who deals with Natural products and puts all these people at risk, then again how can he not when he looks at Leah.Rachel Good has done it again with this book, this is an amazing story of understanding, knowledge, Forgivness, trust, respect. You will love this story line and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book.

The Amish Midwife’s Secret by Rachel J. Good is an incredibly heartwarming novel of forgiveness, new beginnings and love. This second installment in the Love and Promises series can be read as a standalone but I also recommend the previous book, The Amish Teacher’s Gift, as well.Dr. Kyle Miller is surprised by an out of the blue phone call from a doctor who lives in his hometown of Lancaster, PA. He is also shocked by Dr. Hess’s proposal for Kyle to move back to Lancaster and take over his practice so he can retire. Since Kyle has worked very hard to forget about his past, he has no intention of accepting Dr. Hess’s generous offer. However, as he is trying to work up the courage to turn the doctor down, Kyle instead finds himself agreeing to spend a few days working with Dr. Hess in his practice. Will Kyle change his mind once he goes back to the place that still haunts him? Or will the trip convince him he is right to say no to Dr. Hess?Leah Stoltzfus is in training to become a midwife despite the fact that she won’t be able to get her certification. She is also rather overwhelmed by her other responsibilities which include working fulltime in the family’s holistic store and caring for her Mamm. Leah is involved in a courtship with an Amish young man whose expectations about married life are a source on contention.Leah is a caring and compassionate young woman who always puts other people’s needs ahead of her own. She is also an obedient young women so it comes as shock when she finds herself at cross purposes with Kyle during their initial meeting. As a member of the medical community, Kyle is upset by some of the decisions she makes for her patients.Despite their differences and much to their dismay, Kyle and Leah share a mutual attraction for one another. Leah is appalled at her interest in another man since her courtship with Ben means they are expected to marry. Kyle carries plenty of guilt and heartache from his teenage romance with an Amish young woman. Not only has he avoided any type of romantic entanglement since, he absolutely refuses to even contemplate becoming involved with another Amish woman. As Leah and Kyle spend time together at Dr. Hess’s medical practice, will they be able to continue to ignore their deepening feelings? The Amish Midwife’s Secret is a heartfelt journey of self-forgiveness, faith and love. Kyle is a wonderful man whose inability to move on from a heartrending incident in his past continues to guide his life choices in the present. Leah treasures her faith but some of her dreams are at odds with the tenets of her religion. The romance between Kyle and Leah is endearing but can they overcome the seemingly insurmountable differences between them?Rachel J. Good’s newest addition to the her delightful Love and Promises series is heartwarming, thought-provoking and ultimately, uplifting. I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend this charming Amish romance to fans of the genre.I received a complimentary copy for review.

Kyle left his hometown behind after a heartbreaking young romance and a devasting accident with no plans to ever return. When the local doctor asks him to take over his medical practice, Kyle feels the need to help. What Kyle did not expect was to fall in love with Leah. Leah is the Amish midwife who believes that holistic healing herbs and faith in God are the best healing medicines. Can Kyle and Leah overcome their differences to let love have a chance? This book kept me up way past my bedtime more times than I can count. I also found myself ignoring everything that needed to be accomplished after work just so I could dive back into Kyle and Leah's story. You cannot help but believe in love and the power of love when you read this story. I became a little weepy as I read because it was so tender.I am also more interested in the holistic healing properties of organic herbal teas for chronic illness. I have found a new interest. Leah's story was very convincing in how well they can work. This is the second book in the Love and Promises series but each book can be read as a stand-alone. It is a beautiful Christian romance with no obscene sexual overtones or scenes, no foul language and not overly religious (meaning scripture verses on every page). I would feel comfortable giving this to a teen girl or my ninety-year-old grandmother to read.I received a copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) through NetGalley. Any and all opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.
