I was very disappointed in this book, I thought I was going to read one story about a lawyer, and ended up with three short stories. I'd like my money back people. If I wanted short stories I would have purchased short stories. Why name the book The Family Lawyer? That's misleading to me. That's what I thought I was going to read.

I just can't believe How disappointed I am in what books are coming out with James Patterson's names on them or associated with him.I would faithfully buy any book by him, not any more. Just mass producing garbage. It doesn't seem to be about the quality anymore. Very disappointed.

As I said in a recent review, I am finding more Patterson books that I don't really like. When I order one I can't assume that it will be as good as his previous books. I think it has a lot to do with the authors who write for him. THE LAWYER was 3 individual stories. One was good and the other 2 were just so-so.I love the Womens' Murder Club and Alex Cross and Michael Bennett. But the individual books are falling short for me.

The first of three stories was good (4 stars) The second and third series were not up to par with what I would expect James Patterson to allow representing him.I have been a Patterson fan for many years but lately have been disappointed

It was a nice book. I haven't read anything by James Patterson before. This book is actually,three stories (novellas?) by this guy Patterson and three other authors. They're not bad.It must be nice for Patterson to get other folks to write his stories for him.Be warned, Family Lawyer is only one of the three stories.

James Patterson has done it again. The short stories he wrote was right on. The stories kept my attention and I did not want to put my kindle down, therefore I have rated the book5 stars.I would recommend this book to those readers who are new to James Patterson.

What a disappointment, especially the third short story co written with Rachel Hall. Is Patterson just calling these in now? The third short story needed more background on the sisters, why did Miss Lawrence feel she needed to chase her sister's husband away with a gun? Is blackmailing the detective really going to stop the investigation? Don't think so when there is the detective's partner to consider. Really, there is no surprise at the end.

So disappointed. I was expecting a single book. It's not; it's disparate short stories.

This book was highly recommended by a friend. My 14-month-old son loved it from the first read. He loves the different colors of the chameleon, which make him giggle.

To be clear, the story is absolutely darling. This board book printing, however, is not.As with another recent review, the colors on the copy I received are off and this is a book about colors, so it matters. There seems to be an (extreme) oversaturation of magenta and generally the color mix is off. Everything in the book that is not green, yellow, or black is wrong. Reds look neon, browns look burnt orange, and gray is burgundy. I have an older copy of the book and the colors are accurate so this is definitely a printing issue. Until Amazon runs through (or throws out) their current stock of A Color of His Own board books, I would steer clear.

THis book is very sweet, the ilustrations are so cute and the face of the chameleon is just so irresistible, my students love to hear this short story, is very basic for kindergarten and it doesn't have a lot of text.

I bought this book on a whim at a bookstore (kid was freaking out, the cover looked colorful, so I threw it at the kids like a pagan sacrifice to a raging god)But the story is adorable, and queer friendly. It’s almost like a gay chameleon love story about self acceptance.

A sweet and slightly melancholic book. I would habe given it four stars, but a few of the colors were not very accurate. Are goldfish really red? I would have thought orange.

Unfortunately one came broken But after being evacuated from our home for 7 months and coming back to see some of these lights survived the gases from a volcanic eruption near our house we’ll be buying more.

Such a cute book. Easy to read and has beautiful colors. Finally all I have to say is chameleons.... I love chameleons and can share that love with my son through this book

This is one of our favorite book from Leo Lionni's. The pictures are simple, and the words are very simple, but wow, what a message of love and friendship. I give this book for gifts often, children and adults/wedding.

A place where they would most assuredly find themselves enveloped in a shared world of illusionary experiences. Walt's idea grew from a carousel at Griffith Park, and then evolved to a few acres adjacent to the studios. But before that idea even turned a shovel, it ultimately morphed to what Walt realized in his dreams. In short, to provide memorable experiences to families everywhere! It would no longer be just about a park where children and parents could have fun together. It was soon to be much, much more!"THE PARK COMES TO LIFE": SECTION 2The park comes to life. Once again, let me remind you that as in the first section, this book is truly about those memorable photographs. I had heard prior to publication, that many of the pictures had been part of other books available about the park. Well, in my opinion that simply isn't the case. Even if you HAD seen them, let me be perfectly clear...you HAVE NOT seen them truly until you see them as Taschen sees them! You'll be enthralled by each and every one. True, there are one or two that are duplicates from those Marty Sklar authored, five or ten year "Disneyland" souvenir books. But outside of those very few, not only will they delight but they are greatly enriched by the addition of the architectural art along the way.Let me share with you something I hate to admit after 40+ years! Outside of animation used in attraction development throughout the parks, my true interests rarely stray. Animation in and of itself is just not where it's at for me! There it is, my first time acknowledging it in public! In short, if not within the park itself it's unlikely to sit on my shelves or stacked neatly on my Coffee Table. I really find little interest in park history books heavy with long story boards of animation, showing how films we're adapted for use within the park. I mention it here because there is indeed unbelievable art throughout, and particularly in this section of the book. The art I am referring to however, is not comprised of storyboards but rather, richly detailed and colorful architectural "schematics" if you will. I love every one and great care was taken to include them with the right photographs and the correct place within this story! Believe me, I have several books in which continuity is second. The photographs are nearly all in full-color, and most are a full page or stunning double page spreads. I really enjoyed looking at the huge early photograph inside Walt Disney's Tiki Room. I loved looking at the birds, the lighting, Tiki's, but I particularly enjoyed looking at GLEE! And not just in the birdie glee club! That's right, glee in the eyes of the children AND the adults! It was easy to see that the Disney brothers had succeeded...and wildly so! Secondary to the photos, there is a page or two written on each "land" with stories that are excellent "hooks" to reel you in. Actually, they are very important to the overall presentation, but it's difficult to compete with the storied photos in an art book format such as this!"THE VISION CONTINUES": SECTION 3Of course it does! And much more than just "in a land far, far, away!" I really don't wish to spoil any part of this book! Let me just say that it's as good or better than the first two Disneyland sections by themselves. If you are an amateur or future Imagineer, and are familiar and love the two previous Disney books on the subject, you will find a great deal to appreciate here also. Starting with the 1964 New York World's Fair and expanding into all the other areas that Walt and Roy could dream up! You'll be reading and sharing this book over and over! You will also likely discover the very *best overall Disneyland Story on anyones shelf! The presentation of the art, the story and the photographs will bring this incredible journey of Walt's life to it's beautiful new beginning, or more succinctly put, "a source of joy and inspiration to all the world!"ADDITIONALLY: "SO WHERE WAS MY BOOK?" A SHARED EXPERIENCE(Written prior to my review) First, I am very happy to report that a pristine copy of "Walt Disney's Disneyland" by Southern Californias' Chris Nichols, arrived via my U.P.S. delivery man last Wednesday. Safely packaged in shrink wrap and secured within it's box with bubble-puffs.This book was on-order through Amazon for nearly nine months...since January 11th. But, I was soon left asking myself 'why now the two month delay on Amazon delivery'? I knew from Taschen's website as they announced a September 12th release date. Within "bookdom", I try my best to order early enough to get the Antiquarian's version of The Holy Grail. That is, a first printing of a first edition...so I initially was an unhappy Amazonian. I often felt like a monkey swinging in circles from vine to vine, all the while on the phone with customer service! Most of you likely wouldn't bother, but when it's Disneyland...you need look no farther than my "public name" to know where my loyalties lie!So I quickly sent Taschen my questions as my Amazonian Princess was unable to provide specific answers. I received a very prompt and professional letter back within a few hours, courteously stating that while their policy is to "never discuss third-party distribution", indicated that "our wonderful book is" "at our warehouse". Good to know. At least I felt better told that I could obtain my 1st/1st and left my additional Amazon purchase as-is, for perhaps a gift. Or even best of all, a second copy after my first is well worn with tattered pages, simply the love shown to a favorite book by three delighted Grandchildren!Speaking of Amazon, I was pleased to receive an adjusted delivery date of September 27th, which I appreciated very much as special effort on this customers behalf.I am no reviewer of books, but I would hope to represent a true review of this five pound+ tome. So, I'm going to try to skip any of my over-the-top fanatical Disneyland insights that creep into my thoughts! Or let's just say those that wouldn't normally be of interest to the average Disneyphile! Oh yes, I did however include just one "fan creeper" below, purely to relieve my pressure valve! And also, for all my fellow Disneyland amateur historians out there, to show that I didn't let them down! This is always a problem when in possession of 227 volumes on Disneyland, the original park, alone! That "magical day" fairy dust, seems to glitter my life often these days...and so it goes!AND NOW..."BUT IT JUST BUGS ME!"And finally, here is one of those aforementioned "brain creepers" that drive we fanatics to find and take our meds....ok, not really! It's just these very anal tidbits that bother me from the git go. Fortunately, I really couldn't find more than a couple. Not to sound boastful, it really is to the credit of Mr.Nichols and his team.One of the nice "plusses" of this volume is the initial four page wide gatefold, featuring the main entry at Disneyland. As nearly any amateur Disneyland historian would immediately take note, there is a little something missing. Small yes, but measured by historical importance, JUST HUGE! It's those little bronze plaque's, centered above the tunnels when walking under the train tracks, just prior to stepping on to Main Street U.S.A. Plaza. There was no reference to it in the story either. As I understand, they we're placed at Walt's direction and are replicated at every Disneyland Park worldwide. They read as follows: "Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy". I enjoyed the book very much. But with this one tiny caveat. One flip of this fold-out will be enough for this self-proclaimed Disneyland fanatic!*Greatest esteem held for the following Disneyland authors: Mr. Kurtti, Mr.Gennawey, Mr. Crump, and the late Mr. Bright, Mr. Gordon and Mr. Mumford among others. I worked for Disney for 10 years. I have seen so many books on Disneyland but this is the definitive book on the subject. So many never before seen pictures of the making of the park. Take a trip back to the early days and see what Disneyland was all about.

I anticipated this books arrival for a long time only to find it is almost an identical remake of a book published years ago titled, Disneyland the inside story. If you have never seen or heard of this earlier published book you can buy it on Amazon for about twelve bucks. This new book is fine but, like me, if you have the earlier Disneyland book there is not much difference from that book to this book.

I finally got it through my head that I couldn't recapture the freshness & sheer wonder of 1950's Disneyland by revisiting today's (triumph of mishmash) Park. But all is not lost. Anyone wanting to walk the old Main Street one more time, or visit the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk Thru again, or see the Disneyland Submarine traveling through 'liquid space' under the night lights can easily do so for the purchase price of Chris Nichols' Disneyland. Over the years, I've probably purchased most every Disneyland book that's come out in hopes of seeing the Park through young eyes once again. At last, somebody's delivered ---in a big way. Every single page of Chris' book is filled with photos capturing the 'feel' and the sights of a place that is gone forever ---Walt Disney's Disneyland.

Beautiful book with pictures of rides and designs I had never seen before. The clarity of the pictures, especially from the 50s and 60s was incredible. And the text was informative. Thank you for such an amazing book!

There are so many books about Disneyland out there, but this is easily the best one I’ve ever found. It contains lots of pictures and facts I’ve never seen or read before. It is a large book and over 300 pages. I am so glad I bought this and I would recommend it for any serious Disneyland fan. One small notebook is that there is very little about current/more recent Disneyland— but I bought this book for the history I was not alive for.

Javascript is quite hard to learn from books (well, it's a hard scripting language to learn for a number of reasons, mostly because *nobody* seems to understand the need for teaching syntax in the setting of a full script). Most books give you long, impenetrable narrative about the DOM and DOM2, the history of ECMA, deep theoretical discussions of the difference between, say, NULL and "undefined" and NaN. They are impossibly poorly suited to some guy like me, who builds webpages, has a good grasp of server-side languages, and wants to know some more solid client-side js techniques than putting a few event handlers into forms or alerting "Hello World!". These respected tomes teach little practical syntax or structure for an actual script.This Visual QuickStart guide almost succeeds. Unlike the others, after teaching the necessary grammatical basics, it runs you through actual scripts while explaining what they do and why. It's an excellent method of teaching any programming language from a book. Larry Ullman, for instance, is a master of this writing style.Unfortunately, the approach suffers from major defects of execution. Negrino clearly has a few philosophical postures about how javascript should be written, especially that js scripts should be written in external files in such a manner that they can be used, without modification, on any html page. This is actually okay, since it's a good approach for a more advanced programmer -- it just leaves out all other possible ways of accomplishing something and, at the worst, buries some concepts inside unnecessarily complex structures .Much worse, the book is just poorly edited and supported. It is a nightmare to try to download the scripts from the website and, when you do, necessary graphics are missing. Even worse, the names given to the downloaded files are different from the names given to the files in the book, so you end up having to open and inspect files and scripts, and compare them to the ones in the book, to find out which one he's talking about.In the book itself, the explanations often appear, completely unnecessarily, on a different page from the scripts. This is inexcusably lazy editing/formatting for a book this expensive. A couple of the scripts don't even work.It's just a very frustrating book to use. It could easily have gotten five stars from me: The material is all there for a terrific text for someone who wants to learn a good chunk of practical client-side scripting syntax along with beginner-to-intermediate js theory and vocabulary. It's just very slow and frustrating, because you waste half your time on ancilliary matters.In short, an excellent book was written, but a mediocre book was published.

This review covers the Kindle version. Because the Kindle is a hardware device and has fixed fonts that it displays with, this is not the best for this particular kind of book. The formatting details of the original book is better preserved on the PC-Kindle version of this ebook than on the actual Kindle.In particular, the Kindle suffers from the shades of grey that will cause certain color screenshots to have very low contrast and therefore hard to read.Also the indentations that are important for JavaScript readability are not well maintained in the Kindle and again are better on the Kindle for the PC, Android, or even the iPhone.At one point the authors write "Notice that the line with alert is indented?" Well on the actual Kindle that same alert line is actually out-dented, whether in portrait or landscape, or any font size or word count setting. So unless this is an actual screenshot, the examples will be not formatted properly as the authors intended.The information is all there, just the critical formatting of the fonts and the colors do not translate as well on the Kindle as on it's software counterparts.In terms of the quality of the book, I am liking it so far and have found (as a beginner) it more accessible than the JavaScript in 24 Hours book.

I ordered the HTML, XHTML, CSS Visual QuickStart Guide some time ago and was very pleased. My web development skill grew exponentially, so naturally I chose peachpit press for JavaScript and PHP. The PHP book was pretty good, though I haven't done focused study yet because I want to learn JavaScript first. However, this JavaScript & Ajax book is just too vague. I went through the whole first part of building the bingo game and at the end, still didn't have a clear understanding of just about anything I did. How do you build a whole program and not know what's going on. This quickstart guide is too quick. I even typed the code by hand to reinforce the syntax in my mind. The book suggests the web counterpart to help you through, but in my experience the copy and paste technique doesn't help the information stick... does anyone remember why you were asked to take notes in high school? Apparently not. Anyway, I went with the JavaScript Bible instead. 1400+ pages and a full digital copy of the book on CD with extra content. In depth explanations of what the code means and when and why you should use it. The JavaScript quick guide may prove useful after I have a better understanding of JavaScript but I was disappointed with this book.
