This was a very good material. Good information and very easy to understand.

Wolfgang Karl Härdle is a Ladislaus von Bortkiewicz Professor of Statistics at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and director of C.A.S.E. (Center for Applied Statistics and Economics), director of the CRC-649 (Collaborative Research Center) “Economic Risk” and director of the IRTG 1792 “High Dimensional Non-stationary Time Series”. He teaches quantitative finance and semi-parametric statistics.  His research focuses on dynamic factor models, multivariate statistics in finance and computational statistics. He is an elected member of the ISI (International Statistical Institute) and advisor to the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University.Léopold Simar is an Emeritus Professor of Statistics at Université de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. He has been teaching mathematical statistics, multivariate analysis, bootstrap methods in statistics and econometrics in several Universities in Europe. I first heard about Steve Harvey and Jump from a co-worker that recommended the video. After viewing the video, I immediately purchased the book. My life hasn't been the same since that day.I was caught in a job I hated, with a 6 hour daily commute (due to construction and traffic), and I honestly was miserable. I realized that the career I have spent my professional and educational life working towards was NOT for me (I was a Counselor). I'd been toying with making a change, but I was terrified. I wasn't sure if it was worth it. Everyone I spoke with, said to keep with the job I hated because it was stable, it paid well, etc.After reading the book, and watching the video a million times, it happened. I took my jump. Now, it hasn't been smooth sailing the entire time. I was unemployed for a while. But my journey brought me from DC to OK. A completely different way of life, and living. I found a job that only has a 15 minute commute, 20 minutes if there is "traffic." (Seriously, traffic in OK does not compare to the DC traffic haha). Yes, I make significantly less. However, for the first time in 10 years, I am actually happy. Like, truly happy. Not fake happy. No mask to hide behind. My smile is real. My laugh is no longer fake.My journey may not be for everyone, and honestly I don't recommend quiting your job tomorrow. I do recommend thought, reading the book, watching the video, and truly taking a look at your life. This may be that gentle push you need to take back control of your life.

This was a good book and well written. I love Steve Harvey's wisdom, humor and honesty. The book came in perfect timing as I know God has a calling for my life. The information provides me with the encouragement I need to Jump!!

I love Steve Harvey and found this book a friendly reminder of the basics, work hard, be grateful for the season and reason HE has, honor God and don't be afraid of taking risks. This is not a book for those who don't care for Christian or religious themes, but it's still a delight to read about how he's evolved in the second part of his life. I also love reading about the love and devotion Steve has for his family, and the virtues of hard work and sacrifice - needed especially in this instant gravitation time we are in now.It gets 4 stars because it doesn't say anything you couldn't find in other mainstream Christian motivational books but still a good read if you need help to transition your dreams into a reality.

I love reading spiritual books from real people, and by “real,” I mean everyday people, with warts and all. People have a preconceived notion about Christianity, and it is nothing how the media, politicians, and even many Christians portray it. It is about having a personal relationship with God, one that brings peace of mind, love, generosity and prosperity for all. Steve Harvey shows us a glimpse of his journey throughout his career — his trials, his failed marriages, and his slow rise to success and beyond — and he does it with a gentle voice. He even talks about the whole Miss Universe debacle, and how it had affected him. The unfortunate incident led him to more growth, but it wasn’t easy. I loved reading this book, because people think that all of our problems disappear once prosperity sets in, or by having God in our lives. We forget that God is not a fixer upper, and that we have to accept personal responsibility and clean up our mess, with His guidance. The Bible is full of flawed people, because no one is perfect. I recommend this fast read, along with Tyler Perry’s Higher Is Waiting. These men show us a tender heart beneath the successful and talented facade. Their gifts run deep, and thanks to their faith, they are successful AND at peace. I give Jump five solid Maple Pecan lattes!

This isn't for everyone. You have to be open and ready for this message. When you are ready, this contains encouragement to cheer you on the follow through. Mr. Harvey not only witnesses the process, but the divine God who gave the gift in the first place.

I loved this book! Iris writes beautifully about leaving a fast-paced and stressful life in te city and moving to a remote village among the nature. She shares the practical aspects of the experience but also her inner 'work' to achieve a more balanced life. This book is definitely inspiring for anyone who is dissatisfied with modern life and wishes to live a slower and more meaningful life.

Wonderful. By turns upbeat and pensive, this is a deeply satisfying read, on every level. Readers will be encouraged to seek their own equilibrium through Iris Graville’s own journey.

This well-written memoir inspired me - a courageous story of following one's path. I highly recommend this title and other works by this author!

This is a good introduction to being or accompanying an emergency room patient. It gives clear descriptions of how ER docs evaluate and triage cases, select treatment options and get the patient ready to go home or to full hospital care depending. What I was expecting was a little more about how emergency medicine works or what you should do in an emergency before you get to the hospital or when you can't get there. This is about how emergency medicine is practiced in an ER, not about emergency medicine per se, which makes the Medical School for Everyone label a little strong. So if you want to learn about dealing with medical injuries, this ain't it. If, on the other hand, you have a child that often gets sick or has minor accidents that require stitches or a cast, this will give you a lot of insight into what's going on.

One cannot beat the writing of Willa Cather. Often overlooked in the western canon of literature, Cather's short stories are unforgettable. She writes with profound yet simple clarity; her vivid descriptions create for the reader exacting images in one's mind. Along with her gift of writing, Cather has a gift of telling stories of ordinary experiences – ordinary experiences that reveal the extraordinary elements of reality. I began to read Cather when I was 10 years old, and I continue to return to her books well into my adulthood. As I re-read her short stories, it is as though I am reading them again for the first time – they are that compelling.

Willa Catha, a writer I discovered by accident, to me is one of the great US writers. I have read book after book by her, and am glad still more are waiting for me to read.Youth and the Bright Medusa, is a book of short stories that continues her theme throughout her writing. "If you want to live fully, you must find what it is that is satisfying to you, you must find your passion". You must also recognize where those around you are invested in keeping you where they want you to be, having nothing to do with you and what satisfies you at all. It is the old American story, don't try to be uppity and someone other than who we want you to be. That being said, we have also all heard, "You can be whatever you want to be", while at the same time those same people do their best to hold you back. As Willa Cather stresses in this and her other books, "Get out there and be who you are. If you do not do that, you will live an unsatisfying life". You do not want to end your your life asking yourself: "What happened to me?"

This book is a collection of short stories that Willa Cather published in various periodicals between 1905 and 1920. Four of them, I believe, had previously appeared in an earlier short-story collection, The Troll Garden. With one exception, the stories are about the lives of various artists, mostly female singers, but include one painter, one sculptor, and indirectly, one composer. The stories are written in Cather's calm, but realistic, style. She doesn't much romanticize things, but shows life as it is. Cather is a true gem and I should be ashamed of myself for not having discovered her some half century ago.

Be sure to read "My Antonia" and "O Pioneers" before you read "Youth and the Bright Medusa." The first two are true masterpieces. I'm not sure that "Youth" is her third-best book. Try something else, instead, but DO read Willa Cather.

I was surprised to learn that this was a book of short stories, which I normally don't read. However, these were so well crafted that each one held my interest while reading it and was thought provoking for days afterwards.

Willa Cather was not a short story writer. This volume, published in her lifetime, collects what she considered the best of her short stories. They're dreadful. None are worth reading. Again and again the protagonists of her stories are shown as alienated and oppressed by the society they live in. Cather seems to believe that the artistic temperament deserves reward merely for existing. But Cather couldn't solve the difficult task of showing an artist at work, creating great art. Thus the characters seem like so many hogs. Today they would be bawling and rioting and looting the streets, peacefully protesting that awful beast Trump...In all the book, there's only one bit worth remembering, the closing line of "Paul's Case":Then because the picture making mechanism was crushed, the disturbing visions flashed into black, and Paul dropped back into the immense design of things.This is a clever way to describe the last instant of a suicide's life. It is not enough to redeem a short story, let alone a collection. Cather needed space to achieve her own great art. YOUTH AND THE BRIGHT MEDUSA is a bad book, which should not have been published.

I know going in that her books are going to be different and her characters will work their way into my heart even if I don’t expect it.His Turn is the third book The Turning series by JA Huss. We finally learn everything about the real Elias “Bric” Brickman and what makes him tick. I don’t know why I’m surprised that Ms. Huss always shocks me (in a good way) with her stories but she always does.If you read the other books in this series, you know that Elias Brickman owns The Turning Point Club, an exclusive sex club. For years he and his close friends, Smith and Quinn, find a woman and play sex games until one of the four calls it quits. This is their life since their college days.His Turn picks up immediately after Turning Back. Bric is in a bad place emotionally because his friends move on from the games. He misses his partners in the games, and he knows he is the reason they stay away. I’m not sure Bric is sorry for deceiving his friends though. He longs for the players with whom he is the most comfortable. He is grieving for the fun and camaraderie with Quinn and Smith, and he misses Adley.Enter Jordon Wells. Jordan has worked his way into Bric’s inner circle over the first two books. Now he is the only player left who understands the game. Or does he understand Elias Brickman’s game? Then, after a trip home, Bric’s demons take over in the worse way.His Turn is told in the alternating points of view of Elias and Nadia. I repeat--I love Julie’s writing style. Her storytelling always grabs me from page one. The mix of heavy emotional pain, suspense, and electrifying sex scenes is captivating, sometimes tense, and sometimes heartbreaking but always entertaining. Brickman’s character is well developed from the beginning of the series. We learn a little more about him in each book to the point that I am thoroughly invested in his story. I enjoy getting to know these characters and look forward to more about Jordan and possibly Lawton Ayers in the future. I highly recommend His Turn and The Turning Series. You won’t regret it.

I’ll be quite frank here, I’ve been following this series from the very beginning, and while I liked the first two books quite a bit, I was really disappointed with this one.I think my biggest issue in the book was Nadia, I didn’t like her from the outset of the book, and as the story continued, I disliked her even more. I didn’t get why she was even playing to begin with other than to learn to become a meaner and more cold and calculating woman than she already was.Don’t get me started on the guys, they were both just jerks through this whole thing. It seemed everyone was just out to use eachother and aside from Jordan having an evil plot against Bric, no one really wanted to be with the other in the first place. Nadia said quite a few times that she had several games going already. Yeah, it just made me dislike her all that much more. I didn’t finish this book, I just got too annoyed with this cast of characters.

Touch and feel book as advertised. Smaller than expected and disappointing to our son who likes the different textures in his Peter Rabbit touch and feel book. This book used "shimmery spots" which are just shiny ink on multiple pages and the few fur patches are not soft at all. Touch and feel spots were tiny. Couldn't hold his attention.

After watching Oprah interview Beyonce', I noticed she gave her this book for her newborn. I got it for my 12month old, and she LOVES it! After just reading it three times, my baby predicted that the bear was in the boat. Each page shows an image of a bath item : ie boat, then u flip the flap to the side (which is made of sturdy thick cardboard) and a teddy bear is shown in the boat. Another page showed a toy tub, then under the flap was a frog covered in suds. At the end, they show all the bath toys as a recap. My baby loves this book. I completely recommend it. It's high quality, thick shiny cardboard pages have real images of toy items (not drawn). Get it!

Cute little book, my 2 year old loves to look at and feel the pictures, and learns new words at the same time! The pages are nice and thick, easy to turn for young children, the pictures are simple yet colorful, and the textures in pictures make the book all the more interesting for the little ones!

Pictures include: Teddy in the bathtub with bubbles on his head, fish shaped soap bar, boat, rubber duck, whale bath toy, rubber frog, starfish towel, tooth brushes, swimming toy turtle, submarine, folded towels in a stack, teddy wrapped in a towel. The textures include terry cloth for the towels, foam mat for the rubber frog and duck, the rest are just sparkly paper with a little depression. Not as many textures as the other books in this series, but if your kid is all about bath-time books I am sure this will be a hit.

I was VERY disappointed with this purchase. The Baby Touch and Feel names is very misleading. There was little to no texture on the pages. There were seven (7) pages that had the SAME shiny, flat metal texture on the page- 1.) fish with shiny slick bubbles 2.) sail boat with shiny, slick sail 3.)whale with shiny, slick skin 4.) toothbrush with shiny slick handles 5.) turtle with shiny slick water spray around him 6.) submarine with shiny slick windows 7.) teddy bear with shiny slick water around him. THERE IS NOTHING TO TOUCH OR FEEL! The rubber duck and rubber bath tub had the same smooth rubber texture. If I saw this book in the book store, I would not have made the purchase. I expected to feel a variety of textures, which didn't happen. I also bought the Baby Touch and Feel "Animals" book and was equally disapointed.

Basic Touch and feel book. It is small enough for a baby to hold in both hands. Wish there was more to "feel" on each page.The area to touch is small and pretty basic. Book is durable though and easy to wipe off. I would buy one of these again because the book is affordable for what you get.

Like others have said this book has very few textures. Most are just the same shiny metallic paper. Two are almost identical rubber foam. Two are terry cloth material. This is by far the worst touch and feel book we have.

Cute book. Nothing fancy but good for the price.

I am a 53-year-old man with grown children and a garage full of power tools but God help me I love these books. I started reading them so I'd have something to talk about with my teenage daughters and I just can not Stop.

The Shopaholic series was a guilty pleasure of mine last year, and was just the thing to read while, e.g., sitting in the vet's office when my dog was terribly ill (he's okay now, thanks for asking), so I approached "Can You Keep a Secret" with both interest and a certain amount of trepidation. Kinsella has a formula that works for her, so I assumed that this latest book would be formulaic. But would it be intolerably so?The answer for me was both yes and no. "Can You Keep a Secret?" definitely follows the pattern that Kinsella set with the original Shopaholic series, of a ditzy and insecure young woman stumbling into good fortune, figuratively and literally, by meeting a high-powered executive and charming the socks and everything else off of him. This SHOULD be complete BS, but somehow Kinsella makes it work.No, not somehow. She makes it work because her heroines are indeed extremely charming, full of high spirits and keenly aware of the ridiculousness of the positions in which they find themselves, and are always able to overcome their external obstacles and internal insecurities to come out on top, save the day, and get the guy. Kinsella also sprinkles on the glitz and glamor with a liberal hand, but is still able to provide a pretty sharp critique of modern consumerist society and the way it can brainwash people into overspending and chasing after things that aren't actually that important. And she's got a great eye for the ways in which people feed themselves false narratives that they then cling to long past all sense. Not to mention a sparkling prose style."Can You Keep a Secret?" did, however, strike me as a little formulaic. What felt surprisingly groundbreaking in the early Shopaholic books felt a little more like retreading the same ground here. Furthermore, there were some things that gave me the sense that neither she nor her editor could be bothered to smooth out the details: e.g., Emma is 25, but if Jack actually started his company back in the 1980s, he must be twice her age, but the age difference never really comes up. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but a 25-year age gap between partners is a biggish deal in my book.Still, "Can You Keep a Secret?" goes down very smoothly, like cake or one of the Panther colas that Emma is supposed to be selling. If you're looking for some hard-hitting realism or an in-depth examination of the dark side of the human soul, you'll probably want to keep on looking, but if you enjoy Kinsella's other books or the genre in general, you're likely to enjoy this quite a lot.

I’d just finished reading a very heavy book, and I wasn’t in the mood for anything remotely complicated or dense.When I saw Can You Keep a Secret? floating around in my massive TBR, I literally yelled “yes!” Pre-blog, I read Kinsella’s Twenties Girl and Confessions of a Shopaholic books. This author is a master of hilarity, awkward situations and heartfelt moments.Can You Keep a Secret? fits those qualities perfectly. The premise alone was too cute to pass up. A girl who gushes all her deepest, darkest secrets to the handsome man next to her on a plane, who she later finds out is her new boss?! Perfect.This is the ideal beach, vacation or traveling read. It’s light but engaging and sweet yet sincere. It doesn’t require a lot of focus, but it’s 400+ pages will keep you entertained.Some people have issues with these types of books because they’re not “serious literature,” but who cares? Not every book has to change your life and challenge your brain. Reading is supposed to be entertainment, and I often need a break from all the aliens and vampires and dystopias.The only real criticism I have for this book – and Kinsella’s books in general – is the heroine, Emma. It’s not her fault, but she’s just like every other Kinsella leading lady. She is struggling in her career, a bit inept with her friends and family, interested in superficial things and has a penchant for making huge life mistakes.It’s a great character, don’t get me wrong, but Emma could have replaced both characters from the other two Kinsella books I’ve read and no one would have noticed.That is sort of non-issue for me overall because I simply adore Kinsella’s prose and dialogue. The romance is pretty predictable, but the same is true of any romcom movie.And, at least in Can You Keep a Secret? there is a nice little point about telling the truth and practicing honestly in life and relationships.OVERALL:I really needed this. It was plain enjoyable. The characters in every Kinsella book are all pretty much the same, but they’re likable enough that you might be like me and not care. Can You Keep a Secret? is basically a romcom in book form, and if you’re looking for a beach/travel read this is your book.
